Introducing Our Special Anniversary Flemish-Style Red Ale: Althea
We’re excited to finally release a beer that’s been four years in the making—a very special Flemish-style red ale named Althea, in honor of the iconic Grateful Dead song. This beer has undergone a truly unique journey, aging in Barnett Vineyards barrels for nearly three years with a mixed culture of lactobacillus, pediococcus, and multiple strains of brettanomyces, developing its distinct acidic and complex character.
We then added copious amounts of sour cherries, giving it a bright, tart edge. After this, the beer rested in the bottle for an additional year with another strain of brettanomyces, patiently waiting until it reached a subtle carbonation and was ready to be unveiled—just in time for our four-year anniversary!
As the song Althea reminds us:
There are things you can replace
And others you cannot
The time has come to weigh those things
This space is gettin' hot
You know this space is gettin' hot
Like the lyrics, this beer is a reflection on time, patience, and the irreplaceable moments that have shaped our journey.
The result is a beautifully balanced, complex ale with layers of oak, fruit, and a perfect harmony between sweet and sour. This beer is not just a celebration of our journey but also a tribute to the art of patience and craftsmanship, much like the song that inspired its name.
Available in limited quantities, this one-of-a-kind release is a must-try for any beer lover. Don’t miss your chance to grab a bottle and celebrate with us!
